10 Things I Do As A Nutritionist To Stay Heathy That You Wouldn’t Expect

Home/Store/Nutrition Blog/10 Things I Do As A Nutritionist To Stay Heathy That You Wouldn’t Expect

1. I’m a chocaholic and consume regular amounts of raw, organic, unrefined chocolate.  Usually homemade, but never the store bought confectionary type.  Raw, dark chocolate has many health benefits & if you can’t make your own, I have a list of my recommended best chocolates on the market on my website & and a recipe to make your own if you like.

2. I fuel my body with  carbohydrates as my main source of energy.  Obtained  from fruits, vegetables & organic unrefined grains. Low carbohydrate diets, lead to a lack of energy, concentration and ability to exercise.

3. I switched my exercise from high intensity aerobicactivity to more gentle yoga & Pilates training.  It gives me strength, flexibility & more enjoyment.

4. I drink coffee on an empty stomach in the morning.  Controversial, I know. While many advisors don’t recommend this, as long as your morning coffee is followed by a good breakfast balanced with carbohydrates, protein & healthy fats, you won’t experience a sugar crash later in the morning. And you’ll feel much happier!

5. I never consume seed oils. Find my FREE recipes on my website using the best healthy fats for health & taste.

6. I don’t advocate for high protein diets.  The body can only use the protein it requires.  More protein won’t  build more muscle or help you lose weight.  Too much protein strains your organs and can lead to inflammatory disease.  To find out your exact protein needs, get in touch.

7. I get daily sunshine.  Avoiding the sun places you at risk of Vit D deficiency & Vit D is required for every single cell function in your body.  Small, safe amounts of daily sunshine is essential for good health.

8. I don’t take any form of tablet or powdered supplements.  Unless you have a blood test that shows a vitamin deficiency, all nutrients come from food.  Reduce plastic waste, no fillers or  additives.

9. I don’t use protein powders as a form of muscle recovery after exercise.  These powders are highly processed & dangerous for your health. Protein should be sourced from natural food.   For my delicious recipe for homemade protein bars, check my website.

10. I don’t get 8 hours sleep a night.  Sleep is essential to good health and mental wellbeing, however there is no magic number, and some of us just can’t get that much. Instead of stressing over it, just make peace with it, accept the things you can’t change and go live your best life.
